User Reviews

Overall, users find Faraday Test largely functional for checking the shielding of Faraday bags, with several noting it provides easy-to-run tests and positive results when used with compatible bags. However, many reviews criticize mandatory email sign-in, privacy concerns, and frequent crashes on newer iOS devices (notably iPhone X), plus inconsistent readings (zero signals despite real signals). It also lacks breadth (only tests WiFi and cellular). Some users report improvements after updates. In short: solid basic testing tool with privacy and stability drawbacks and limited scope.
Pros
  • Allows testing the shielding/blocking strength of Faraday bags and related products.
  • Easy-to-use interface for running tests.
  • Produces positive, practical results when used with compatible Faraday bags.
  • Updates and fixes are responsive, keeping the app compatible with vendor products.
Cons
  • Requires an email/login to use; privacy concerns are repeatedly raised.
  • Crashes or is unstable on startup and during tests, especially on iPhone X / iOS 13+.
  • Reading inconsistencies and false negatives, such as reporting no signal when one exists.
  • Limited testing scope to WiFi and cellular only (no testing for Bluetooth or other signals).

To keep using the app after the first test, you have to create an account. They claim not to collect information, then proceed to demand your email address to use the app. Bad app developer. Find an alternative.

First, I would like to say that this app does, in fact, work. But it looses 3 stars for 3 reasons. 1: it’s ONLY effective at testing WiFi and cellular. 2: There is NO reason to do the whole “Sign in to continue” thing just to collect an email. Presumably, somebody has already purchased one of your products and wants to test it. Just let your product speak for itself. 3: There are better ways to test the effectiveness of a faraday bag than an app. Just stream some music on WiFi, then cellular and place your phone in the bag you want to test. Do the same to test Bluetooth with a speaker. And just start navigating on your favorite map app and wait for it to tell you that your signal is lost.

To the other guy giving a 1 star just for the email requirement and not the actual app itself… you can enter a fake email, it doesn’t verify, genius. Anyways, the app works and does what it says. It requires an email to test Cell Service, and the email can be random and made up. Simple.
