Features & Capabilities

Y Disk Pro is a powerful offline file manager that pairs with a USB hardware drive to expand iPhone/iPad storage and enable cross‑platform file transfer with Windows or Mac—no Internet required.

When connected to a PC or Mac, the hardware appears as a standard USB drive; on iOS devices, it provides extra storage and direct access to files. Key capabilities include playing media from the flash drive, browsing and managing local files, basic operations (copy, delete, share), and securing files with a password or Touch ID. Files can be shared to social apps or other iOS apps. Compatibility covers iOS with Lightning and iOS 8+, Windows XP–Windows 10, and Mac OS X 10.5+.

User Reviews

Most reviews report severe instability and hardware compatibility issues. The core function—backing up photos to the flash drive—works for a minority, but many users experience crashes, drives not being recognized, incomplete uploads, and loss or inaccessibility of files. The dominant themes are app crashes, connection problems with the drive, and data loss, leading to low trust in the product. A few users report working experiences where backups succeeded.
Pros
  • When it works, the app backs up photos to the provided flash drive via the app with no issues.
  • The app handles the core backup/transfer task as advertised.
  • Some users report smooth operation on iPhone/iPad with the device connected.
Cons
  • App crashes, freezes, or force closes frequently during use.
  • The flash drive is often not recognized or fails to connect to the iPhone, causing intermittent connectivity.
  • Transferred photos/videos can go missing or become inaccessible after use (data loss).
  • Uploads can fail or be incomplete, with no clear progress or verification of what was uploaded.
  • Overall reliability is poor, with many reports of devices failing or underperforming and high frustration.

This app and the Flash drive have compromised all of my memories. They’re all glitching, the app glitches so I can’t even access any of them. I can’t share any of the photos. Some of the photos are warped and have never come back and I have memories from my trip to Mexico, my mom’s birthday and so much more and I could cry I’m honestly about to sue them all. Don’t do it
