Overview

Features & Capabilities

Browser Auto Refresh is a lightweight extension that lets you set a webpage to refresh at a chosen interval—from 1 second up to 10 minutes. Save sites for quick recall, pause or restart refreshes, and even open in Safari when you need to interact, all with a clear countdown timer and a device-agnostic design for iPhone, iPad, and desktop.

It’s easy to use: enter a URL, select the refresh interval, and choose 'Show website' to start. This free utility from Light Alarm helps you stay ahead of updates, tickets drops, and breaking news by keeping pages current on your terms, with auto-complete and smart URL handling to save you time.

User Reviews

Users overall say the app reliably refreshes pages at set intervals and boosts productivity, letting them monitor sites with minimal effort. However, multiple reviews cite frequent crashes, instability, and site-specific compatibility issues (notably with Safari and certain sites). Login flows can fail inside the app, and premium licensing appears per device. Many want background refresh and change-alerts/push notifications. Ads are generally unobtrusive, with some reporting that the paid version reduces ads. The product is helpful when it works but unstable and limited by platform/site constraints.
Pros
  • Core functionality: automatically refreshes pages at a user-defined interval.
  • Productivity boost: helps monitor sites and saves time for users and clients.
  • Ads are unobtrusive and can be reduced or removed with a paid version (per user reports).
  • Helpful for monitoring multiple pages and workflows when the app is functioning.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability; app often crashes or force-stops.
  • Safari compatibility and site support issues; some sites aren’t refreshed or supported, and Safari-related updates can break usability.
  • Login/sign-in limitations; pages requiring login may not work inside the app or login controls fail.
  • Per-device premium licensing on multi-device setups (family plan) can require multiple purchases.
  • Missing background refresh and push notifications; users request background operation and alerts for page changes.

I think the app needs to fix bugs because it keep force stopping

The app was doing just fine for almost a year, when the page I was refreshing upgraded their platform. Since the refresh app doesn’t actually work on Safari it was no longer supporting the site I was monitoring. Otherwise this app does what it says and it was worth paying a little to not have ads.
