User Reviews

Users praise AteMate for fast, photo-based meal logging and a non-judgmental, flexible experience with strong health-data integration and reflective insights. Major drawbacks center on pricing transparency, the accuracy/tone of the AI analysis, and occasional bugs or a paywall-driven sign-up flow.
Pros
  • Very fast and easy to log meals with a few taps
  • Photo-based AI logging that identifies foods and can be edited to reflect what you actually ate
  • Non-judgmental, flexible and customizable; supports notes, reflections, and tracking health metrics beyond calories
  • Strong health data integration: works with Apple Health and syncs with scales/workout apps, all in one place
  • Valuable for accountability and behavior insights through reflections and a day overview; helps build lasting habits
Cons
  • Pricing and billing transparency issues: subscription-based with no clear free option and frequent paywall complaints
  • AI analysis can be inaccurate or judgmental (mislabels foods, suggests incorrect nutrition) and sometimes not editable
  • Reliability issues: bugs that erase analysis or cause crashes
  • Sign-up/paywall flow can feel deceptive or force you into paying before you know costs

Very cute, positive, easy to use. I would appreciate if I could add photos for drinks, movement, etc. instead of just food. I would also appreciate an option to track my period with it (my goal is to understand my eating patterns and hormones play a roll in that).

This app makes it so easy to move towards an intuitive eating and intuitive healthy life. The data is also very helpful too. I’m glad I got this app

Love this app. It is not super fancy but I like that it’s not a hardcore dieting app. I take a picture and it gently recommends changes, and that’s what I need :)
