User Reviews

Overall, users praise MultiTone Generator for versatile tone control, usefulness in tinnitus-related explorations, and solid integration with external tools, plus responsive support. Recurrent requests focus on improving frequency controls (non-linear options and shorter sweeps), adding the ability to save multiple tracks or group frequencies, and preventing unintended ultrasonic playback (auto-stop on minimize or after a set time). The app is valued for psychoacoustic experiments and healing, with room for UX and feature enhancements in future updates.
Pros
  • Versatile and flexible tone manipulation suitable for healing, psychoacoustics, and tinnitus experiments.
  • Valuable for understanding or simulating tinnitus; users report it helps convey the sensation.
  • Works well with external tools and hardware (Audiobus/DAWs) for recording and integration.
  • Responsive developer support and improvements, such as adding a note section.
Cons
  • Limited frequency control: only linear frequency selection; no non-linear option.
  • Sweep duration is stuck at a minimum of 0.1 seconds, making fast vibrato difficult to emulate.
  • No easy way to save or organize multiple frequency tracks or group frequencies.
  • Potential safety risk with ultrasonic tones; tones can continue playing if minimized or forgotten; requests auto-stop on idle or minimize.

I’m loving the new UI update & sleek feel of everything. The app feels more alive like this. I’ve been an avid user for a while now & love the app, but a good UI update is so refreshing to have & makes me excited to continue using the app.

That’s right; subject to tinnitus for twenty-three years. Using your tone generator to simulate my high-pitched tonal tinnitus for those who have no idea what tinnitus figuratively sounds like. It’s close enough to convey the sensation. Kind of the equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard.

I used to love this app until time went by, and more and more features were removed and became only available to paid users as updates were made. Of course they never mention that in the new versions/releases before you download them. Pretty deceiving and unfair to the original users.
