User Reviews

Users broadly praise Dhamma.org for its extensive meditation resources, reliable logbook, and intuitive design, plus global access to sits and courses. However, repeated concerns include data loss after updates, app crashes, and Zoom sittings not being logged. Feature gaps such as Apple Health/Watch integration, dark mode, live virtual course integration, and longer timers are frequently requested. Overall, it’s a strong practice-supporting tool with reliability and feature gaps that need attention.
Pros
  • Comprehensive content and resources including course material, recordings, discourses, centers, and course registrations, plus access to global sits
  • Robust logbook/time tracking that records sittings and durations, encouraging consistent practice
  • Intuitive, lean, distraction-free design that is easy to use and keeps focus on practice
  • Helpful reminders and built-in practice tools (daily reminders, timer, gongs, long/short instructions)
  • Global reach with links to virtual sits around the world and world-wide course sign-ups
Cons
  • Data loss after updates where the logbook and meditation data were wiped or disappeared
  • Crashes and stability issues (crashes on startup or when playing group sits)
  • Virtual sessions/Zoom not being logged by the app, limiting sit-tracking and integration
  • Missing integrations and features on the roadmap (Apple Health, watchOS, dark mode) and desire for live virtual course integration
  • Requests for longer/custom timers (2-hour settings) and improved timer functionality

What a wonderful app! I can go through the course material and games, the recordings are there, and I can check out and sign up for other courses around the world as well. It is easy to stay on the path.

This is a nice app packed with information and the tracker which is nice to track one’s meditations. However It would be nice to be able to have 2 hour settings in the tracker as well.

I’m an old student, I’ve downloaded, but no arrow to start the recording? Maybe I didn’t get signed in correctly? But I was able to download a couple sessions.
