User Reviews

Hello Mars is visually polished and offers an appealing Mars weather concept with sound and exploration elements. Reviewers praise the interface and Mars-focused information, but consistently cite limited interactivity, reliability issues (freezes/crashes/blank screens), data accuracy concerns (temperature), and offline/WiFi dependencies. A common wish is for broader solar-system content (more planets, solar-system view, clocks, live data) to justify continued use beyond Mars alone.
Pros
  • Polished, professional interface
  • Fascinating Mars weather concept and data presentation
  • Engaging sounds and exploration features that add enjoyment
  • Strong informational content about Mars
Cons
  • Very limited interactivity; no zoom or speed control and few features beyond weather
  • Bugs and reliability issues: freezes, crashes, blank screens, inoperable skip button
  • Data accuracy problems: temperature display is incorrect
  • Offline usability is poor; requires WiFi to function and some features don’t work without it
  • Wants broader solar-system content; missing planets and a solar-system view

As a product designer, I constantly ask myself these questions: what does this product do? What problem does it solve? And who would benefit from it? I can’t find any of the answers from this app. More importantly, how did this pass Apple’s review?!

This app is silly! It does virtually nothing; shows you virtually nothing! Tap Sunrise, Sunset and it’s blank! Tap Pressure and it’s blank. Temperature always shows -80 to +80 C which isn’t correct at all. You cannot zoom in. Mars rotates with only one or two things identified. You cannot change the speed. The app freezes and crashes. If you don’t have WiFi on when you launch it, it doesn’t work. The Skip button is inoperable. If you have WiFi on, you’re in compass mode, but if you Skip, you are forced to sit through the same journey to Mars—each time! I’m worried about the future of our space program if this is the best Lockheed-Martin can do! No wonder so many Mars missions have failed! Don’t even bother downloading!
