Features & Capabilities

Listen to various high frequency sounds!

The pitch of a sound is determined by the soundwave frequency. These high frequency sounds are made by fast sound wave vibrations, while slow vibrations create low pitched sounds.

As you age, your hearing abilities decline so that you are less able to hear high pitched sounds. This means that these high pitched sounds are effortlessly heard by young people, but not so easily detected by older generations. Test your hearing (or your parents’ hearing!) with these high frequency noises!

User Reviews

Overall, reviewers say the app works as advertised and is fun for pranks, with ads that are mostly unobtrusive. The main downsides are hearing variability (many people cannot hear the tones), occasional non-function or no sound, and a lack of an easy way to stop tones. Some users also report disruptive ads and a confusing tone-button order. When it does work, it can be a simple hearing-range tester and a lighthearted joke tool.
Pros
  • Works as advertised / functions as expected
  • Great for pranks and social interactions
  • Ads are unobtrusive / bottom-of-screen
  • Useful for testing hearing range (hertz you can hear)
Cons
  • Many users cannot hear the tones; effectiveness depends on user’s hearing/age
  • No easy way to stop tones; playback continues until you quit
  • Some reviews report the app not producing sound / non-functional
  • Ads can be disruptive; ad playback may cause continued sound or be intrusive
  • Tone UI order is not intuitive (tones are not listed in ascending frequency)

I find it odd that it only has 3.6 stars as if typing this review, and this is because (at least for me) it completely works and does the advertised things. I believe any cases in which it hasn’t worked for people are likely outdated software versions, user errors, or “flukes”. But in my scenario it has to have a 5 out of 5 stars because it does exactly what it is supposed to and does not bother me ever with anything, the only advertisements being unnoticeable and at the bottom of the screen, never pop ups.

This app functions exactly as expected, it is absolutely great! The only issue is that I wish the tone buttons on the user interface were in order ie: 9k 10k 11k, etc not 9k 13k 16k, but this doesn’t detract from the app and is a fantastic way to mess with my family. When a lot of people say they can’t hear it, this is true. The app is working, but a lot of people can’t hear these sounds. It simply depends on your ears. Most people over 30 cannot hear anything played on this app and a lot of times people a born with ears that cannot register the sound, the app is working perfectly it is not the apps fault, it yours. Here is a nice video from one of the smartest guys on the internet, at 2:55 he explains how your ears get worse over time and it is harder to pick up these tones
