User Reviews

Reviews praise the app for being easy to use and often producing results similar to professional tests, especially for baseline monitoring and left-vs-right comparisons. Many users view it as a helpful screening tool before formal audiology visits. However, concerns recur: it is not a substitute for professional evaluation, results can vary across headphones and devices, and accuracy can be inconsistent. Advertisements can be intrusive, and some users report volume glitches and lengthy testing times. Overall, it's a convenient, low-cost screening aid best used alongside professional assessments.
Pros
  • Results often closely resemble professional audiology tests, making it a useful screening tool.
  • Easy to use with clear, easy-to-interpret results.
  • Tests left and right ears separately, enabling straightforward comparison.
  • Useful for baseline measurements and monitoring changes over time.
  • Helpful as a supplementary step before seeking professional care.
Cons
  • Not a substitute for professional hearing tests; results can deviate and reliability varies.
  • Ads are intrusive and disrupt the user experience.
  • Results can vary significantly with different headphones or devices, reducing reliability.
  • Volume control can glitch (unexpected increases/decreases), posing potential safety concerns.
  • The test can be lengthy, which may affect reliability of responses.

I have tinnitus, and before seeing a doctor I tried out this app just to see. Definitely go see an audiologist if you have concerns about hearing loss, that’s what I did, but the app results gave me that extra incentive to pursue a doctor’s visit rather than just brushing things off. Again, go see a professional, especially if you need a hearing aid. But I’m thankful that this free app is available for more casual monitoring

I am an otolaryngologist, or ear nose and throat specialist, with a high frequency hearing loss in my left ear. I have been using this app for the last few years, and it is by far the best one out there to give reproduce results. This, of course, does not give you the same information as a full hearing test in a booth with an audiologist, but it's an amazing screening test that you could also use for baseline. And also a great test to measure changes. I've been using it for over a year, and tracking my own hearing. Out of all the hearing test apps I have tried, this is by far the easiest, most accurate, and most reproducible hearing app. I highly recommend it.

I suspected that either my right ear or right hearing aid wasn’t working properly. This simple test confirms that even through the hearing aid I have moderate to severe loss on the right only, so I have something to send to my hearing professional. Good app and good job.
