User Reviews

Reviews praise Discogs for its vinyl cataloging and active community, plus useful collection-management features. However, stability and UX issues are frequent: barcode scanning often fails, logins/logout problems persist, the app crashes or freezes, updates regress core tasks (sorting, release viewing, price editing), and essential actions like wishlist/collection toggles are hard to access. The main tension is reliability and ease of use versus Discogs’ strong data and community for vinyl fans.
Pros
  • Strong cataloging and discovery platform for vinyl, with an active community.
  • Core app features for managing your collection (and the barcode scanner) are valuable when functioning.
  • Valuable resource for vinyl lovers with long-standing data and marketplace offerings.
Cons
  • Barcode scanner / camera often fails (autofocus issues, lag, crashes) and can render item scanning unusable.
  • Frequent login problems and constant logouts (captcha loops, password issues) disrupt use.
  • App crashes and freezes regularly, including after exiting the scanner or when loading releases and credits.
  • Updates frequently introduce regressions—breaking sorting, release editing, price/sell features, or image loading.
  • UX/navigation can be clunky (hard-to-find Wishlist/Collection toggles, non-intuitive order, extra clicks).
Recent reviews
Every update is more frustrating than the previous one. Now I can’t save my settings preferences. I don’t want my collection and wantlist sorted by year. I sort by artist and save. Next time I open the app the settings are not saved, it’s back to being sorted by year. It’s a great app when it works, and it used to, but recently it’s like you’re trying really hard to make the most awful user experience possible.

Stop messing with the format please I can’t stand it. I want to view my collection by artist not year or recently added. Everytime i change it to artist instead date added it instantly chances back. It’s frustrating.
