User Reviews

Yam Display is broadly praised as a cost-effective way to turn an iPad into a second monitor for Macs, including older devices. Reviewers report low latency, good reliability, easy setup, and optional WiFi use with portrait/landscape support. The main drawbacks are lack of Windows support, updates that shift toward mirroring rather than extending the desktop, and occasional bugs or value-perception concerns. Overall, it's a solid, affordable choice for Mac users seeking a portable second screen, especially when Windows compatibility is not needed.
Pros
  • Broad compatibility across old and new iPads and Macs with reliable performance
  • Low latency, smooth and responsive display
  • Good value for money and generally considered worth the price
  • Stable with regular updates and responsive developer support
  • Flexible display options including portrait/landscape orientation and an optional WiFi version
Cons
  • No Windows support; Mac-only with no Windows client
  • Recent updates limit to mirroring only, removing true extended display capabilities
  • Occasional glitches or bugs reported on some setups
  • Perceived value concerns; some users feel the price is high or not worth it

This is a great app! I’ve been trying to figure out how to use my old iPad mini 2 as a display for my M4 Mac mini via the lightning cable. This app works like a charm! To the developer, wishlist is to be able to use the iPad mic and camera for the mac. Thanks!

I have an older iPad Mini 2 hooked up to my M1 Macbook Air, works almost perfectly. There might be a glitch, or a bug, here and there sometimes. But I highly recommend this to anyone with older and/or newer hardware. Absolutely worth the money!

This is a service that offers a free option and a pay to operate option. Both are equally bad. You can connect once then after than the system will continue to crash where you will need a monitor at ALL TIMES to get connected. Save your money Please.
