Features & Capabilities

WSwitch for WeMo lets you control WeMo smart switches from iPhone, widgets, and Apple Watch—without the discontinued WeMo app. Turn devices on/off, dim LED bulbs, and group devices for single-button control. The app can discover devices on your local network or accept manual IP entries, and requires you to be on the same Wi‑Fi network as your smart devices.

Create and manage groups, set up WiFi for new devices, and optionally control all devices with a single button. Also available for Mac: https://macappsto.re/us/Jnu27

User Reviews

WSwitch for WeMo is praised for salvaging old WeMo gear, enabling local control and HomeKit without cloud servers, and offering a clean, mobile-friendly experience (including Apple Watch). However, users repeatedly cite stability problems, lack of scheduling/timer features and renaming options, removal of the widget, and limited remote access when away from home. Some report poor support. Overall, it’s valued as a local-control lifeline but needs improved reliability, feature parity, widget retention, and developer responsiveness.
Pros
  • Local control without Wemo cloud servers (works with HomeKit)
  • Detects, re-adds and salvages old Wemo devices for continued use
  • Control across devices from iPhone and Apple Watch (hands-free convenience)
  • Well-designed, user-friendly UI and overall reliability when functioning
  • Lifesaver for customers after Belkin/Wemo discontinued support; helps keep devices usable
Cons
  • Reliability and stability issues: app fails frequently, spotty performance, may require reload after updates
  • Limited features: no per-device schedules/timers and no dimming; cannot rename devices (e.g., Wemo Mini)
  • Widget functionality removed/breaking changes in updates reduces convenience
  • Remote access often does not work away from home (local network requirement)
  • Support responsiveness concerns: users report little to no response from developers

I was able to re-add old wemo’s by resetting them to factory settings. Connected to them via the unique Wemo WiFi name on my iPhone. Once connected, I was able to update the wifi and rename them. All the wemo’s I have are being used via a Wemo hub to expose them to HomeKit. All are working perfectly. With this app it allows me to add any Wemo to my existing HomeKit setup. No Wemo servers needed!

Like most, I found myself locked out of the WEMO app. This app is good at detecting the devices. I was very disappointed however that the “timer” is more of an egg timer requiring manual setting every time. The WEMO app provided an auto-on auto-off function. This is the ONLY function I needed from the app & only used the app to adjust for Daylight Savings Time. Without this, this app is worthless to me. I resorted to setting up routines in Alexa to take care of it.
