Features & Capabilities

PowerView enables you to control Hunter Douglas motorized window coverings from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Create scenes to set shade positions and use schedules to automate lighting, privacy, and energy use—individually or in groups across your home.

Navigate with Dashboard, Rooms, Scenes, and Schedules, and add favorites for quick access. When you have a PowerView Gateway, RemoteConnect lets you manage your shades from anywhere and time-based automations can run at sunrise or sunset. RemoteConnect requires a Gateway, internet connectivity, and initial in-home setup.

User Reviews

PowerView is praised for reliable shade operation, remote access, and scheduling with group or individual control. However, it suffers from instability and crashes after updates, problematic device discovery and pairing, and compatibility issues with new iOS versions. Feature gaps (global battery visibility, batch control, dark mode) and account-management quirks add frustration. Users also report significant battery drain and background activity. Overall, it works but reliability and maintainability under updates and OS changes are recurring concerns.
Pros
  • Shades perform well and hardware integrates smoothly with the PowerView app.
  • Remote access to shades from anywhere is convenient.
  • Scheduling and routines are easy to set up for automation.
  • Users can control shades individually or in groups.
  • Overall handy and convenient for daily use.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and unresponsiveness, especially after updates or on newer iOS versions.
  • Setup and device discovery issues make it hard to pair shades or the hub.
  • Compatibility problems with newer devices/firmware lead to crashes or unusable states.
  • Missing features/limits: can't see all shades' battery levels in one view, can't control all shades at once, lack of dark mode, and some account-management limitations.
  • Notable battery drain and high app/background activity affecting device usage.

This app, the blinds, and the little relays never work. I have the blinds scheduled to open and close on their own, but they don’t. I try to use the app to open or close the window but it doesn’t connect! We have had someone out to look at it several times, but it is expensive and only lasts for a month or so. I will never buy blinds from them again! Something that should be easy is such a pain!!

It constantly pings Bluetooth and may do other things to drain my iPhone battery. I have to recharge my phone more often now. Any suggestions?
