User Reviews

Players praise Polytopia as a fun, addictive turn-based strategy with fair monetization and evolving content. Repeated complaints focus on balance (notably Cymanti), the need for more content and better online play, spawn randomness, and payment issues across platforms.
Pros
  • Fun and addictive turn-based strategy gameplay with depth and variety.
  • Fair monetization model: no intrusive ads and tribes can be purchased without paywalls.
  • Weekly challenges and future content potential help keep the game fresh.
  • Overall solid Civilization-style strategy experience that many players enjoy.
Cons
  • Balance issues, especially Cymanti being overpowered, with updates sometimes hurting other tribes.
  • Desire for more content: additional maps, modes, units, and campaigns to expand longevity.
  • Multiplayer/online problems: matchmaking struggles and difficulties playing with real people.
  • Spawn randomness and map balance concerns leading to inconsistent starts and outcomes.
  • Payment and purchasing issues on some platforms (initialization errors, inability to buy tribes).

This game is awesome. Super fun to play. The only thing its missing: more content! More maps, more creative mode settings, more skill trees, more unit types, etc. I understand that adding more means it’s trickier to balance. To the developer - can we expect consistent updates with new content?

I know I’m beating a dead horse here, but I am just so turned off from the game purely because of the sheer advantage that Cymanti has over every other tribe. I’ve played the game for years, even before any of the tribe expansions and Cymanti has been the reason I quit over and over again. No matter how many changes or reworks done, they always come out on top and that is represented by the matches you get that are Cymanti 80% of the time. No matter what tribe you chose, no matter how perfect you play, it always comes down to map luck when facing Cymanti. If you can’t win by like turn 7, the game is over. Would it be so hard to add a matchmaking option to where you can “avoid” playing other tribes? The game is a blast while playing any other tribe and takes tons of predictions and strategy. Against Cymanti, they just have to drop a beetle on your face and there isn’t much you can do about it. I gave the game another chance today after months like I always do and what do ya know, Cymanti is my first opponent. I instantly remembered why I quit last time. Just please change something to where I don’t have to play them anymore. Maybe the playerbase will come back.

I used to play on android and had bought all tribes and most skins. Now I have a iPhone and cannot access anything, including multiplayer mode.
