ToarGuard

ToarGuard helps users reduce exposure to scam-related risks by monitoring security signals on the device and warning the user when suspicious activity is detected.

The app is designed for situations where scammers may try to guide a user through chat, phone calls, screen sharing, unsafe links, risky apps, or account takeover attempts. When protection is enabled, ToarGuard runs a visible foreground service so users can clearly see that monitoring is active.

ToarGuard uses Android VpnService as a device-security protection feature. When a high-risk condition is detected and the user grants VPN permission, ToarGuard can activate a local protection VPN tunnel on the device to temporarily restrict network connections. This helps reduce risk while the user stops unsafe actions and restores normal device use.

ToarGuard is not a general-purpose VPN. It does not provide anonymous browsing, does not change the user’s location, does not bypass regional restrictions, and does not operate a remote VPN service for browsing. ToarGuard does not use VpnService for ads, monetization, or selling VPN data.

The app shows an in-app disclosure before requesting Android VPN permission and uses VpnService only for ToarGuard’s device security and containment features.

Some protection features require an active subscription. ToarGuard does not guarantee that every scam, fraud attempt, unsafe interaction, or account takeover attempt will be detected. Users should still review messages, links, calls, app permissions, and payment requests carefully.
