I don't understand the purpose of the meter; it seems to swing full anti-clockwise, or full clockwise which gives the same amount of information as the tick and cross. I tried some sample passwords. aaaaaaaa is apparently good, but 79wT&bcL is bad. Could be the difference between 7 and 8 characters, but the latter seems intuitively less susceptible to a dictionary attack. Might be useful to see a summary of why a candidate succeeds or fails.
