Review summary

Users praise FEMA for timely weather alerts, useful preparedness resources, and overall ease of use. However, reliability concerns persist due to inconsistent regional alerts, update-related bugs, nonfunctional flood maps, and noisy or misaligned notifications, which can undermine usefulness during emergencies.
Pros
  • Timely and reliable weather alerts and information, including National Weather Service updates.
  • Excellent preparedness resources and tools that help with family safety planning and sharing information.
  • User-friendly, easy to read and navigate interface with quick access to resources.
  • Sharing feature that lets you send weather details to friends and family.
Cons
  • Inconsistent or missing alerts across states/regions and during disasters, reducing reliability.
  • Bugs and stability issues after updates (zip-code entry not accepted, location services flaky, app freezing).
  • Flood map feature sometimes inaccessible or nonfunctional.
  • Notifications can be noisy or not correspond to active alerts (outdated or mismatched notifications).

Best weather alert system I have found. Near-real time alerts. Custom alert settings. Simple reading format.

The weather alerts via push notifications have been very helpful. It seems like they're more prompt than from some of the other sources I have used and opening them brings up the NWS alert directly, which contains the hazard info (eg, wind, etc).
