User Reviews

Users praise FEMA for timely weather alerts, useful preparedness resources, and overall ease of use. However, reliability concerns persist due to inconsistent regional alerts, update-related bugs, nonfunctional flood maps, and noisy or misaligned notifications, which can undermine usefulness during emergencies.
Pros
  • Timely and reliable weather alerts and information, including National Weather Service updates.
  • Excellent preparedness resources and tools that help with family safety planning and sharing information.
  • User-friendly, easy to read and navigate interface with quick access to resources.
  • Sharing feature that lets you send weather details to friends and family.
Cons
  • Inconsistent or missing alerts across states/regions and during disasters, reducing reliability.
  • Bugs and stability issues after updates (zip-code entry not accepted, location services flaky, app freezing).
  • Flood map feature sometimes inaccessible or nonfunctional.
  • Notifications can be noisy or not correspond to active alerts (outdated or mismatched notifications).

Regardless of whether I have some preferences checked, I'll still end up getting the notification. For example, I have a few locations where I have very limited notifications checked. Tornado warning. Hurricane warning. Fire warning. But not severe thunderstorm warning. And I'll still get severe thunderstorm warnings for those locations.

It was very nice to get the warning about the storm. I feel it's nice and it has great information.
