Google udm14 verbatim search Firefox

Google udm14 verbatim search

Adds a Google search engine that includes the udm=14 parameter (excludes much AI content) and the tbs=li:1 parameter (verbatim search requests)

Features & Capabilities

About this extension

Search engine add-on extending the udm14 add-on so that, in addition to the udm=14 parameter, the tbs=li:1 parameter is automatically included in Google searches.

As of 22 May 2024, the udm=14 parameter requests Google to return a more stripped down view for search results, omitting much of the additional junk inserted by allegedly AI processes.

The tbs=li:1 (verbatim) parameter disables interpretations that modify the search string as typed by the user. I have included this because a large part of my time is spent searching for content related to species via their scientific names. Google very often modifies these searches and requires extra clicks to return what was requested.

This add-on was created solely to make it easier for me to use these parameters for default search. Uploaded in case it is of use to others.

After adding udm14-verbatim to Firefox, you can use Settings > Search > Default Search Engine to select it as the default.
