User Reviews
Pros
- Powerful replacement capabilities (text/script) with regex support for fast, broad text substitution across pages.
- Simple, clear, and easy-to-use interface for common tasks.
- Reliable performance that matches expectations and generally preserves page formatting (e.g., on Google Translate pages).
- Long track record and trust from years of use (around 11 years).
- Helps reduce on-page clutter and distractions, improving reading experience.
Cons
- Interface not intuitive and explanations/documentation are lacking, making it harder to learn and use for some users.
- Configuration for automatic substitutions and managing replacement groups can require several steps and be confusing.
Recent reviews
Works as described. Replace method doesn't mess w/ Google Translated webpages' formatting, so I can use Stylus to get rid of those annoying paragraph indents.
I use this extensively, and lists get very long. A function to insert an entry at a selected location would save so much time. Currently using a Auto Hotkey script as a workaround to position entries.
Bug: After editing a list, sometimes the last list (or extremely rarely the first) gets overwritten with the edited list, losing all data. Unknown what causes this. Currently using empty lists as a buffer. New version prevents empty lists from being created, so as a workaround I have to import old blank entries (or just use the older version).

Usually works nicely, but need to explain how "match case" works. I want to substitute a word that can be either at the beginning or inside of a sentence. The case of that word must change accordingly.

Looked promising but does not work for discohook for whatever reason. I'm sure it works great for other websites but I can't be bothered to try when I don't need this feature for other websites.

Is FoxReplace Safe?
Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.
FoxReplace requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.
Risk impact analysis details
- Critical Allows access to all websites, posing a significant security risk as it can monitor and modify data from any visited site.

- Medium ****** ********** ** ******** ********** *** ********* ******* ******** ****** ******** ****** ********
Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.
FoxReplace is probably trust-worthy. Prefer other publishers if available. Exercise caution when installing this add-on.
Risk likelihood analysis details
- High This extension has low user count. Unpopular extensions may not be stable or safe.
- Low **** ********* *** ******* **** **** * ****** **** ***** ******** *** **** ****** ** ** ****** *** *****
- Low **** ********* *** ***** **** **** * ****** **** ***** ********** *** **** ****** ** ** ****** *** *****
