User reviews

HeadingsMap is praised for its effectiveness in visualizing heading hierarchies, aiding SEO and accessibility testing, and its simplicity. Users appreciate its utility for screen readers and academic work. However, multiple users report issues with the extension not loading on many sites, the removal of a key HTML5 feature, conflicts with other apps like Google Calendar and Facebook, and lack of developer support. Some also find the heading numbers in the table of contents distracting and seek ways to customize it.
Pros
  • Effectively visualizes the heading hierarchy (H1-H6) of web pages, aiding SEO and accessibility testing.
  • Highly useful for accessibility purposes, especially for screen-reader users and compliance testing.
  • Simple to use with no major issues for many users, providing a clear overview of page structures.
  • Supported by multiple users for web development and academic reading to navigate and understand complex documents.
  • Fast and accurate heading analysis compared to other similar tools.
Cons
  • Sometimes the extension fails to load the headings map on many websites, limiting its reliability.
  • Recent updates removed the HTML5 heading and section analysis feature, which many users found essential.
  • Conflicts with other web applications, e.g., causes issues in Google Calendar and text area inputs on Facebook.
  • Lack of support and responsiveness from developers when issues occur, causing frustration among users.
  • Headings numbering in the generated table of contents can't be hidden or customized, which some users find distracting.

I installed HeadingsMap on the Vivaldi browser. However when I click the HeadingMaps button on the toolbar, the table of contents (headings) does not appear as side panel. I installed it also in the Brave browser (also Chromium-based) and the side panel appears. Is HeadingMaps supported on Vivaldi?
