Features & Capabilities

FireLoad is a speculative page-warming extension for Firefox. It watches for strong navigation signals such as hovering, focusing, middle-clicking, right-clicking, and opening links in new tabs or windows, then uses browser-native prefetching to warm likely next pages ahead of time.

Choose between three modes:

Efficiency keeps preloading conservative with tight resource limits.

Balanced uses a practical mix of hover, visible-link, and intent-based prediction.

Blazing Fast uses more aggressive preloading for the fastest perceived navigation.

FireLoad uses native browser hints such as DNS prefetch, preconnect, and document prefetch. It does not collect analytics, send telemetry, or transmit data to a FireLoad service. Settings are stored locally in Firefox.

To reduce unwanted requests, FireLoad skips sensitive URLs such as checkout, payment, logout, delete, token, session, and unsubscribe paths. It also respects Save-Data and slow-network signals by default.

Is FireLoad Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

FireLoad requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

FireLoad is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
