ExtRenew Firefox

ExtRenew

Every 30 days, review what your other extensions can access and confirm you still want to keep them. Runs entirely locally.

Features & Capabilities

ExtRenew reviews the permissions your other Firefox extensions hold, in plain English, every 30 days. No account, no server, no network calls of any kind, everything happens locally in your browser. Every extension gets a plain-language explanation of what it can actually access, plus a quick rating from 🙈 Blindfolded to 👑 Total Control. Renew what you still want, disable what you're unsure about, or remove it outright.

Nothing runs in the background except a once-a-day check for whether your 30-day review is due. No polling, no tracking, no data collection of any kind, "none" is declared explicitly in this add-on's data collection permissions, and it's true.

Already live on the Chrome Web Store, this is the same tool, ported for Firefox.

Is ExtRenew Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

ExtRenew requires very minimum permissions.

Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

ExtRenew is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
