User reviews
The JavaScript Editor Chrome extension is appreciated as a lightweight and beginner-friendly tool that provides quick JavaScript coding and result visualization without the complexity of full IDEs. However, many users criticize it for being merely a redirect to a web page rather than a true app, lacking offline capabilities, insufficient documentation, and usability problems such as loading errors and missing features like disabling auto-run. Overall, it serves as a useful resource for beginners but has notable limitations and technical issues affecting user experience.
Pros
- Good for beginners wishing to learn JavaScript programming.
- Simple and easy to use, works well without overcomplicating like full IDEs.
- Provides immediate result visualization and helps in tweaking JavaScript code effectively.
- Functions well for casual or quick JavaScript coding tasks.
Cons
- Mostly functions as just a shortcut or redirect to a web page rather than a standalone app or editor.
- Lacks offline functionality or is not truly usable offline.
- Users face issues with loading, especially on some platforms (e.g., Chromebooks), sometimes due to insecure resource loading.
- No clear documentation or guidance on usage, project importing, or managing code files.
- Some users mention missing essential features like disabling auto-execution of code or effective search functionality.

Does nothing on my Chromebook (ChromeOS 94) - page progress bar get to two-thirds and stops. Going directly to the page, there is a"Get Started>>" button - does nothing. Seems to be related to attempt to load resources from an insecure server. Developer console shows 18 error 11 issues:

Useless Offline
It's a good resource but these 'apps' that are just redirects to web pages shouldn't be called apps.
