Tabius - Automatic Tab Grouping Assistant

An Automatic Tab Grouping Extension for Your Browser.

Tabius is a powerful and open-source Chrome extension designed to enhance your tab management experience. It automatically creates and organizes tab groups based on customizable rules, such as domain matching or specific site preferences. Users can save favorite tab groups, blacklist sites from grouping, and control tab group behaviors like auto-collapsing inactive groups or limiting group sizes.

With features like naming groups based on tab titles or URLs, syncing settings across browsers, and a redesigned user-friendly popup interface, Tabius offers granular control to streamline your browsing workflow. Ideal for users who rely heavily on tab grouping but want more automation and customization, Tabius simplifies tab clutter and increases efficiency in browsing sessions.

User reviews

Tabius is praised for its automatic tab grouping of new tabs, ease of use, and its ability to help users manage numerous tabs efficiently. Users appreciate its open-source nature and find it a good alternative to similar extensions. However, several users note it only groups new tabs, ignoring existing groups, and the interface lacks features such as renaming groups or viewing tabs within groups. Some complain about the absence of auto-collapse and minimum tab thresholds, inconvenience in popup menu operations, the inability to save groups persistently, and no backup options, limiting its overall efficiency for heavy tab users.
Pros
  • Effectively groups new tabs automatically for better tab management.
  • User-friendly and simple to use with a generally good interface.
  • Helps organize tabs and reduces clutter, especially for users with many tabs open.
  • Open-source nature appreciated by users.
  • Good alternative to other tab grouping extensions, providing useful features like grouping parent and child tabs across domains.
Cons
  • Does not group existing or restored tabs, only new tabs opened via links, limiting usefulness for users with multiple sessions.
  • Limited functionality in the extension's popup menu; lacks ability to rename groups or view group contents easily.
  • Lack of features like auto-collapse of groups or minimum tab count threshold before grouping, leading to clutter with many small groups.
  • Issues with tab groups not being saved after closing and reopening the browser, causing users to regroup tabs repeatedly.
  • No option to backup tab groups or export them, leading to potential data loss if the browser is reinstalled.

EKLENTİ ÇOK GÜZEL. çok sevdim. ama neden grup içerisindeki sekmelere tıklayamıyoruz.? anlamadım. The plugin is very nice. I liked it very much. But why can't we click the tabs in the group.? I don't understand.

Used to be a 5 star in my eyes. But for some reason now, whenever I group tabs on Brave and close the browser, the tab group is deleted and the tabs are no longer grouped even after clicking Save Group. This destroys the purpose of the extension, as having to re-group my tabs every time I open the browser is extremely cumbersome. Edit: As of 11/14/2024, changed from 2 stars to 4. Will monitor for some time and notify if problems return.
