Enable Selection Firefox

Enable Selection

Unblock and Enable Selection in some websites which block selection by mouse to open context menu and copy.

Features & Capabilities

Enable Selection is a lightweight Chrome extension designed to bypass restrictions on websites that disable text selection and right-click context menus. It effectively restores the ability to highlight, copy, and right-click on sites that implement anti-selection measures, allowing users to easily copy text content for personal use.

The extension works seamlessly on various websites known for blocking selection, including news portals and content platforms such as cn.cari.com.my, chinapress.com.my, sinchew.com.my, and others. It resolves common issues like blocked Ctrl+C shortcuts by enabling right-click context menus to facilitate copying.

Privacy is prioritized with no data being sent to external servers. The source code is openly available for review by Mozilla and users to ensure transparency. For best results, users should ensure pages are fully loaded or stop loading if the extension isn't taking immediate effect. Updates can be managed through the add-ons settings.

Enable Selection is ideal for users who need to copy text from websites that put restrictions on selection, enhancing their browsing productivity without compromising privacy.

User Reviews

Users frequently report that the extension reliably enables selection and right‑click on many sites and is simple and lightweight. However, multiple reviewers note it can break sites (notably Google Docs), trigger JavaScript errors that disrupt functionality, lacks whitelist/blacklist or per‑site toggles, and does not work consistently on every site.
Pros
  • Effectively enables text selection and restores the right‑click context menu on many sites (widely reported as working).
  • Simple and lightweight — multiple users praise that it “does what it says” and often works without reloading.
  • Generally reliable and useful for copying content (several users mention successful use for notes/reports).
Cons
  • Breaks Google Docs (several users report disabled copying or other breakage).
  • Causes JavaScript errors and can break site functionality on some pages (reports of “jQuery is not defined” and broken pages like Inoreader/Calendar).
  • No whitelist/blacklist or granular toggles — users must manually disable the add‑on for problematic sites.
  • Doesn’t work on every site; effectiveness is inconsistent depending on the site’s protection methods.
Recent reviews
This add-on totally blocks custom right-click menus on sites. One can't normally use Google Docs, Telegram Web and so on. You should add site whitelist or something else.

This extension somehow disabled copying in google docs which drove me nuts until I deleted it. I don't know why it did this.
