Emacs-keybinding

An addon for using Firefox with Emacs keybindings

Emacs-keybinding is a Firefox addon designed for users who want to utilize Emacs keybindings while browsing. Compatible with Firefox 57 and newer, this extension brings Emacs-style keyboard shortcuts to most web pages, enhancing navigation and editing efficiency. Note that it doesn't work on Firefox internal pages (like 'about:xxxx' or new tab pages) and cannot override Firefox's own UI keybindings due to extension limitations.

Users might encounter some conflicts with Firefox's native shortcuts; however, a troubleshooting guide is provided to help disable conflicting bindings for a smoother experience. The extension requires pages to be fully loaded for keybindings to activate. Developers and users can access detailed documentation and report issues via its GitHub repository. Overall, Emacs-keybinding offers a practical solution for Emacs enthusiasts wanting a consistent workflow within Firefox.

C-x C-f does reliably open a new tab. But what I most wanted was Emacs key bindings for edit fields (C-a, C-e, C-y, etc.) and they are completely missing so it's not or me

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Emacs-keybinding requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.
