User Reviews

Users praise the add-on for blocking autoplay on many sites (notably YouTube and Facebook) and consider it a long-standing, reliable autoplay blocker. However, multiple reviews report serious drawbacks: it interferes with CAPTCHA/authentication systems (Cloudflare and Google reCAPTCHA), causing login/verification issues; its behavior is inconsistent across sites (works sometimes, requires refresh); and some users report it doesn't reliably block YouTube autoplay in Firefox. Overall, it's a powerful tool when it works, but compatibility and maintenance concerns limit its reliability.
Pros
  • Blocks HTML5 autoplay on many sites, improving browsing experience.
  • Works on popular sites like YouTube and Facebook as expected.
  • Historically reliable and well-regarded for years.
Cons
  • Interferes with CAPTCHA and anti-bot systems (Google reCAPTCHA v3 and Cloudflare), causing login/verification failures.
  • Inconsistent behavior across sites: works sometimes, sometimes doesn't; requires refresh or toggling.
  • Doesn't reliably work on YouTube in Firefox for some users.
Recent reviews
Currently causes a Cloudflare confirmation loop on Indeed.com, but works well everywhere else I go.

Some websites ignore Firefox's setting to block video/audio autoplay. This extension magically fixes this issue! Thank you so much Afnan Khan!!

Plugin works most of the time, but really slows down Firefox to the point where I had to uninstall this extension. But, it's not been updated in some time, so it appears to be abandonware.
