GPS bike tracker with map, route history, GPX export, and private notes.
BikeLog is a clean, private cycling tracker that records your rides with GPS,
shows them on a real map, and lets you drop pinned notes anywhere along the
route. Everything stays on your device — no cloud, no account, no analytics,
no ads.
Why BikeLog
• Privacy first. Your routes, your phone, your data. Nothing is uploaded.
• No account or sign-in. Install and ride.
• Minimal permissions. Only what is genuinely required for GPS recording
and the persistent notification of an active ride.
• No background-location permission requested. Recording in the background
is handled by a foreground service started from the app, which is the
privacy-friendly way to do it on modern Android.
Recording
• One-tap Start / Pause / Stop with a big, glove-friendly button.
• Live stats during the ride: current speed, average and max speed,
distance, moving time and total time, elevation gain.
• Reliable background recording. Lock the screen or switch to another app —
your ride keeps recording until you stop it. A persistent notification
shows live distance and time, with quick Pause and Stop actions.
• Optional “keep screen on” mode for handlebar mounts.
• Configurable GPS update interval (1 / 2 / 5 seconds).
Map
• Beautiful, world-wide OpenStreetMap base layer.
• Live route drawn on the map while you ride.
• Tap “center on me” to snap the camera back to your position.
Pinned notes
• Drop a note exactly where you are — the moment you tap “+”.
Coffee stop, viewpoint, mechanical issue, idea for next time, a great spot.
• Each note carries text, time and exact location.
• View all notes on the ride map as markers, and as a list on the
ride detail screen.
History
• Every ride is stored locally, sorted by date.
• Open a ride to see the full route, all stats, all notes.
• Edit the ride title and add an overall note any time.
• Delete a ride with one confirmation step.
GPX export
• Export any ride to a standard GPX file via Android’s system share sheet
(Storage Access Framework) — no extra storage permissions required.
• Compatible with Strava, Komoot, Garmin Connect, RideWithGPS, and other
tools that read GPX.
Localization
• English and Russian. The app picks the language automatically from
your phone’s system language; you can also override it from Android’s
per-app language settings (Android 13+).
Themes & units
• System, light, and dark themes.
• Kilometers or miles — switch any time from Settings.
Permissions, in plain words
• Precise/approximate location: to record your GPS route. This is the
core of the app.
• Foreground service + location foreground-service type: to keep the
recording running while the app is in the background.
• Notifications: to show the persistent “recording in progress” banner
with Pause and Stop controls (required by Android for foreground
services on Android 13+).
• Internet & network state: only to download OpenStreetMap map tiles.
No telemetry, no analytics, no third-party SDKs.
• Wake lock: keeps the CPU from sleeping during an active ride so the
GPS keeps logging when the screen is off.
Not used
• No background-location permission.
• No access to files, photos, contacts, microphone, camera, calendar,
phone state, Bluetooth, advertising ID, or anything else.
