User Reviews

Users broadly praise DeviantArt Filter for effectively blocking unwanted content and its essential, unobtrusive integration. However, it suffers from long-term stagnation, reliability issues across content areas, and compatibility problems with DeviantArt’s Eclipse layout and site changes, plus occasional UI glitches. Overall, it’s valuable but fragile and in need of ongoing maintenance.
Pros
  • Blocks unwanted content (fetish/mature art, porn) across DeviantArt, reducing exposure.
  • Widely regarded as essential or lifesaving, enabling safer browsing.
  • Integrates with DeviantArt's UI and feels unobtrusive, preserving the site's look.
  • Provides effective tag/keyword filtering for customization.
Cons
  • Not updated for a long time (over a year/two years), raising maintenance concerns.
  • Blocking reliability is inconsistent across content types and site areas (literature, videos, groups/notifications; sometimes filters don't apply or show filtered items).
  • Compatibility issues with DeviantArt's Eclipse layout and upcoming site changes, causing it not to work.
  • UI glitches and conflicts caused by site changes (button placement, overlapping controls) making usage harder.

While this does still mostly work, I'm giving it 1 star due to no updates in over a year and a pretty glaring issue I reported to the Github months ago that still has yet to be addressed: It fails to block literature and video posts.

Thank you so much for this extension! Now I can finally browse this site without constantly seeing stuff that I don't wanna see.
