User Reviews

Users generally praise Advanced Profanity Filter for its effective censorship and strong customization options, including per-word replacements and the ability to extend the filter list. It is described as seamless and helpful for reading subtitles or articles when audio is muted. Repeated concerns focus on stability and performance, with reports of browser-related disabling and slower page performance on some sites. A common request is to add a highlight mode or per-word highlighting as an alternative to full censorship.
Pros
  • Effective profanity filtering that works well across streaming, articles, and other content.
  • Highly customizable: add words, modify lists, and use replacements.
  • Replacement feature is reliable and useful for quick censorship.
  • Seamless integration and generally smooth user experience.
Cons
  • Occasional compatibility issues: the extension can be disabled by the browser or fail to load on some Firefox versions.
  • Performance impact: slows down pages and causes lag on sites like YouTube.

Thank you to the developers for making this. I don't use it for 'profanity' haha but it's been invaluable for hiding words and phrases that I personally find upsetting. I really appreciate the versatility and customisation options. Using the internet has become a significantly less stressful experience for me since I added this to my browser. Thanks again.

Great idea and exactly what i wanted! Thank you. The audio censoring/muting is a bit slow on YouTube videos. You allow an "unmute delay" but that doesn't help if the audio is faster than the captions. Please allow "Mute Speed up" to allow muting ahead of when a filter word appears in the captions. This way users can extend a mute to their exactr needs. Thank you

A little obtuse UI but it works really well and a good send really! Can finally watch streaming content with blasphemy filtered out!
