SecureCam: Phone Security Cam

Got an old Android phone in a drawer? SecureCam turns it into a motion-triggered security camera, and your everyday phone into the viewer that watches it. One app, two modes: pick Camera or Viewer the first time you open it.

Works at home, no account needed
• Put both phones on the same Wi-Fi and scan the camera's QR code. That's it.
• The connection is encrypted and locked to your own camera: the viewer only trusts the camera it was paired with.

Watch from anywhere
• Sign in to Tailscale inside the app, on each phone, with the same free account. No separate VPN app needed.
• Your phones then reach each other over your own private network, end-to-end encrypted, from mobile data or any Wi-Fi.

Private by design
• Video, photos and audio stay on the camera phone, or go to your own Google Drive, Dropbox or Box if you turn on cloud upload.
• Your video never passes through our servers. Instant alerts use a small relay that only sees a device token and an event number.
• No SecureCam account, no subscription, no ads.

Cloud upload and storage
• Upload clips to your own Google Drive, Dropbox or Box, on Wi-Fi only or only while charging if you like.
• Free up the phone automatically: clips are removed once uploaded, and anything else is kept for 7 days, 2 weeks, a month or as long as you choose.
• Cap the space recordings use: a fixed size or a share of the phone's storage. When it's full, the oldest clips go first.
• Delete old clips from the cloud after the number of days you pick, so your cloud doesn't fill up either.

Camera mode
• Records video, photos and audio when it sees motion, with 5 or 10 seconds of pre-roll so you see what happened just before.
• Smart alerts: on-device detection of people, vehicles and animals, so a moving curtain doesn't wake you up.
• Detection zones: draw the areas that matter and mark each one as alert or record-only.
• Weekly schedules: ignore, record, or record and alert, by time of day.
• Keeps running with the screen off or dimmed, and shows battery, temperature and storage at a glance.
• Clips are saved in short segments, so an interrupted recording isn't lost.

Viewer mode
• All your cameras on one screen, with the most active one up front.
• Smooth live view that adapts to your connection (H.264, with automatic fallback).
• Instant push alerts the moment a camera sees motion, or polling if your phone has no Google services.
• Event timeline with photos, video and audio, filtered by camera or type.
• Change any camera's settings remotely, arm or disarm one or all, or pause for an hour.

Tips for reliable recording
• Keep the camera phone on a charger and allow SecureCam to ignore battery optimization so it runs all night.
