Strata

Strata turns digging into a structural puzzle. Every rock tile you clear adds stress to its neighbors, and once that stress passes a threshold, the rock collapses on its own - sometimes triggering a chain-reaction cave-in. You have a limited supply of pillars to place on tunnels you've already dug, and each pillar does double duty: it stops stress cascades, and it also holds back a lava line that keeps creeping up the shaft.

Meet your ore target before the lava reaches the surface, using as few pillars and moves as you can. Thirty handcrafted levels take you from a modest 6x8 shaft to a deep 8x16 dig, and an Endless Shaft mode keeps generating new depths after that.
