User Reviews

Users praise Deadname Remover for removing deadnames and aiding privacy, especially in schools and fanfiction contexts. However, many reviews cite post-2.0 regressions, performance slowdowns, and saving errors as recurring issues, with some site-specific problems (Gmail) and Waterfox homepage stealth mode glitches. Despite stability concerns, the extension remains valued for its utility and the developer's responsiveness, with several users noting its meaningful impact during transitions.
Pros
  • Very helpful for removing deadnames and changing references across sites.
  • Useful for privacy in real-life contexts (e.g., school or college) to avoid explanations.
  • Versatile enough to adapt to different uses (e.g., changing names in fanfics).
  • Positive developer support and responsiveness.
  • Long-term usefulness and impact during name changes.
Cons
  • Post-update regressions that break it on many sites (notably after the 2.0 release).
  • Significant performance slowdowns or browser crawl when the extension is on.
  • Cannot save changes; 'changes failed to save' errors.
  • Browser crashes on some configurations.
  • Site-specific compatibility problems (e.g., Gmail, Waterfox homepage stealth mode).

used it to remove any references of W.D Gaster lol

Danke! I have noticed that when I open Waterfox, the stealth mode doesn't work on the homepage (exclusively). When clicking on the extension, the setting is still on, but it's seems that it doesn't do anything. This problem does not happen outside of the homepage though. I have 'use in private browsing' on, use Startpage, and am on mobile if that helps. Also, would it be possible to make a list of more famous Trans people that's easily downloadable, so we don't have to input all of them manually, possibly forgetting a few.
