FactoTools: CABYS y Hacienda

FactoTools brings together in a single app all the tax information every Costa Rican taxpayer needs before issuing invoices. No accounts, no registration, and no advertising: just open and consult.

TAXPAYERS
Enter an ID number, and the app automatically detects whether it's a physical ID card, a business ID card, a DIMEX card, or a NITE (Taxpayer Identification Number). It provides the complete tax information from the Ministry of Finance: name or business name, tax regime, registration status, whether the taxpayer is delinquent or non-compliant, the corresponding tax administration, and all economic activities with their corresponding codes.

CABYS AND VAT CALCULATOR
Find the 13-digit code and VAT rate for any product or service in the Catalog of Goods and Services. Enter the name, and the search starts automatically; you can also paste the code directly and see its exact details. Enter an amount, and you'll see the subtotal, the tax, and the total; if the amount already includes the tax, a toggle will break it down.

INVOICE KEY
Paste or scan the 50-digit numeric key from an electronic invoice. FactoTools reviews it point by point and breaks it down completely: issue date, document type, branch, terminal, sequential number, and status. It also checks the issuer with the Tax Authority to tell you if they are registered, delinquent, or non-compliant.

XML 4.4 AUDITOR
Open the XML file of an electronic invoice, and the app converts it into a readable view. Review the schema and required blocks, the key and sequential number, the issuer and their economic activity, the existence of each CABYS code, the tax rate against the catalog, subtotals, discounts and taxes, the total, and credit notes and referenced documents.

EXEMPTIONS
Check an exemption authorization by its number: if it exists, if it is still valid, and if it covers the CABYS code you are going to invoice. This review prevents the Tax Authority from rejecting the invoice.

EXCHANGE RATE
Buy and sell the dollar and euro according to the Ministry of Finance, with the date of the data and a converter for colones to dollars and vice versa.

SPECIAL REGISTRIES
Agricultural producers (MAG registry) and Fisheries and Aquaculture (INCOPESCA and fish farmers), to check if an ID appears in the registry and is still active before applying the reduced VAT rates.

WORKS OFFLINE
The codes you save with the star are always available. In addition, each search is saved for 21 days and each ID number consulted for 7 days, so even in an area without coverage you can continue working with what you've already looked up.

WHERE DOES THE DATA COME FROM?
All information comes from the public services of the Costa Rican Ministry of Finance (api.hacienda.go.cr). FactoTools does not store your queries on any server: what you search for stays only on your phone.

INDEPENDENT APP
FactoTools is a private tool developed by FactoSystems. It is not an official application of the Ministry of Finance or any other public institution, and it is not affiliated with or sponsored by them. It only queries the open data services published by these institutions.

AN HONEST CLARIFICATION
The validation checks the key structure and the issuer's status. It does not confirm whether the Tax Authority has accepted the receipt or if it was reversed: that query requires the taxpayer's own ATV credentials, which the Tax Authority does not provide publicly. The app explains this on screen to avoid confusion.

The rates and data are displayed exactly as returned by the Tax Authority. For billing purposes, always confirm with your accountant.
