WHO Contraception tool

The WHO Contraception Tool is a digital guide based on the Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use (5th edition, 2015), providing family planning providers with evidence-based recommendations for initiating contraceptive methods. It replicates the functionality of the MEC Wheel, supporting safe and effective contraception choices for women with various medical conditions.

This extension covers nine common contraceptive methods including combined oral contraceptives, contraceptive patches, vaginal rings, injectable contraceptives, progestogen-only options (pills, injectables, implants), as well as levonorgestrel-releasing and copper intrauterine devices. It assists healthcare professionals in making informed decisions to protect women’s reproductive health safely and efficiently.
