Users consistently praise the Washington Post app for strong journalism, timely updates, easy navigation, and a straightforward readable presentation. They value personalization and a generally smooth experience when the app works. However, several reviews flag issues: ads remain visible for paying subscribers; audio playback lacks voice options and auto play cannot be turned off; performance problems such as freezing or crashes after updates; display and layout problems on some screens; and editorials or excessive opinions that cannot be turned off.

Using the search function to locate stories in WAPO app it's almost always an exercise in frustration... that is not satisfied. Today's example: in the print edition I glanced at a crack spread article (price of crude versus price at the pump) and after four attempts to locate it in the online edition I only came up with articles on cocaine and some historical articles that were no longer relevant. I know the post can do better as otherwise I really enjoy this app.

Decent app. But one shortcoming bugs me. When scrolling the Top Stories, and when I find one that interests me in the list, I select it to read the story in full. When finished, the app does not bring me back to where I left off. instead, it brings me back to the top of the Top Stories page, forcing me to scroll back down to where I left off. This seems like a pretty glaring and obvious shortcoming that I'm surprised hasn't been addressed.

love the content but the 'back' command isn't working properly on my iPad or android device. If I read an article and want to return to the place from which I left, I am returned to the top. Very annoying.

The night mode issue is fixed. However, the most recent update appears to have broken the app's ability to remember how far down you have scrolled before you click on an article to read it. Now when you close the article it takes you to the very top again. Which means you then have to scroll all the way back down. --- Please stop with the constant "Would you like to enable Night Mode" pop-ups. Once this is fixed, I'll change my rating.

What the heck? A new feature of the WP app now brings you to the top of the stories after you finish reading every story. That forces one to scroll down from the top of the paper OVER and OVER! Please fix this. It's absurd.
