Got a Bluetooth or FTMS treadmill and want more from it? WalkingBud is a free, community-built app — not made by any manufacturer — that gives you full treadmill control and proper workout tracking right from your phone. A better alternative to FitShow — no fees, no data collection.

Connect and train
Pair your treadmill over Bluetooth and control everything from your phone: start, stop, pause, speed, incline. The app detects when the belt starts moving and auto-records your session — no tapping required. Live metrics: speed, time, distance, steps, calories, pace and MET. A clean summary screen is waiting when you finish.

Wear OS watch
A companion app on your watch shows live session data — time, speed, distance, steps — and lets you control the treadmill: pause, resume, stop. Heart rate from the wrist sensor is synced to Health Connect. Ambient mode and always-visible session on the watch face come standard.

Steps that actually make sense
Instead of a flat constant, step length is recalculated every second based on your speed and height. You can also run the calibration wizard (tap the screen in sync with your steps) to build a model that matches your personal gait. And if a session still seems off, enter the real step count afterwards — the app quietly adjusts future estimates.

History and goals
Every workout saved in history with charts and sorting. Daily and weekly goals for steps, distance and time. Per-session goals with auto-notification or auto-stop. Personal records, activity streaks, monthly overview and 12-week trends.

Integrations that actually work
• Google Health Connect sync after every session (steps, calories, distance, heart rate)
• Google Drive backup in a private app folder (invisible to others in Drive)
• CSV/JSON export and sharing

No stress about losing data
Your workout is saved as you go — even if the app crashes mid-session, nothing is lost. Bluetooth reconnects automatically after brief dropouts. Lock-screen privacy: your metrics stay hidden, only a generic "Session in progress" message is shown.

Small bonus
A belt oiling reminder — because who remembers? The app tracks belt running hours and tells you when it's time.

Supported treadmills
Fully tested with the WalkingPad N1 Pro. Also works with any treadmill supporting the FTMS (Fitness Machine Service) or Standard (WiLink) protocol. Other WalkingPad models — C2, A1, P1, R1 Pro, R2, X21 — are supported on a best-effort basis with automatic protocol detection. For untested treadmills, a built-in detection wizard helps find the right protocol.
