Placard is a straightforward classroom seating chart builder that transforms your device into a handy seat planning tool. Designed for elementary teachers, substitutes, and classroom aides, it lets you assign and rearrange student seats as paper name tents on a top‑down desk grid. The main Desk Map tab gives you a bird's-eye view of the room, with desks organized in labeled rows and columns. Each occupied desk displays a folded paper name tent with the student's name handwritten boldly across it and a tiny chalk marking showing the column number. Name tents are color-coded by row—blue for row A, green for B, orange for C, and purple for D—so you can spot group layouts at a glance. Tapping any name opens a quick edit panel, while tapping an empty desk prompts you to add a new seat assignment right from the map. The All Seats tab presents every assignment sorted by row and column, with the ability to swipe to delete or tap to edit any entry. The Assign tab provides a clean single‑card form where you enter the student name, desk row label, column number, and an optional note before saving. Need to find a specific student quickly? The Search tab filters your entire seat list in real time as you type. On the home dashboard, a chunky wooden number block shows your total seat count alongside a quick‑action Assign Seat button and a handy list of the last three students placed. All of your seat assignments are stored locally on the device, so you don’t need an internet connection or cloud account to use the app. This gives you complete control to create, read, update, and delete assignments instantly, with no syncing delays or privacy concerns. Whether you're setting up a permanent seating plan, rearranging for a new project, or managing a temporary layout as a substitute, Placard helps you stay organized without paper scraps. The tactile chalk-and-wood visual style keeps the experience warm and classroom-friendly, but never gets in the way of plain functionality.
