SMS Inbox & Home Screen

SMS Inbox & Home Screen gives you an organised place for carrier messages together with an optional Android launcher.

Use one app to read SMS/MMS conversations, prepare messages, manage your inbox and create local SMS backups. If you also choose it as your Home app, installed apps, shortcuts and supported widgets are available from its home-screen interface.

No account or sign-in is necessary.

START WITH YOUR SMS INBOX

Messaging access requires SMS Inbox & Home Screen to be selected as Android's default SMS application.

The app can then show conversation threads, let you compose and reply and provide notifications when supported incoming messages arrive.

On supported dual-SIM devices, select an available SIM for outgoing texts.

The app does not control carrier pricing or delivery. These depend on your network operator, mobile plan, device and SIM.

ORGANISE THE CONVERSATIONS THAT MATTER

Search for message text and browse the conversation categories available inside the inbox.

Pin frequently used conversations, archive threads that should no longer appear in your main view and use local controls to manage read and unread status.

Manual blocking lets you block unwanted conversations.

If a one-time code is recognised, an available copy action can copy it for you. The feature does not verify accounts and is not connected to a banking or financial service.

ADD MESSAGE CONTENT

Use Android's picker for supported photos, video and audio.

You can also open an available camera app to capture a picture or select supported contact details.

Optional approximate-location access allows a map link to be generated and inserted into a draft when you choose location sharing.

Review the chosen recipient and attachments before transmitting a message.

PLAN TEXTS AHEAD

Schedule a prepared message for a later time when required.

Until it is sent, the pending message and its attachment references remain locally stored. A pending schedule can be cancelled.

Depending on the Android version, exact-alarm access may be required.

The app still needs to remain the default SMS handler and retain required permissions when the scheduled time arrives. A usable SIM and network connection are also required.

Because these factors are not always under the app's control, scheduled delivery at an exact time is not guaranteed.

BACK UP AND IMPORT SMS

The navigation menu includes Backup and restore.

Choose a destination folder with Android's file picker, then tap Backup now to save supported SMS text data in JSON format.

When importing, select a compatible backup, review the message count and confirm the restore.

MMS attachments are not included in these backups. Automatic scheduled backup creation is also not supported.

Backup and restore require the app to hold the default SMS role.

After an import finishes, you can keep SMS Inbox & Home Screen selected or open system settings to return to another default SMS application.

Switching does not delete messages already imported into the phone's SMS store.

Backup files are not encrypted by the app. Store them in an appropriate location and share only when intended.

YOUR OPTIONAL HOME SCREEN

Set the app as Android's Home application to enable its launcher.

Access installed apps through the drawer, keep favourite apps easy to reach, organise app shortcuts and add supported Android widgets through the included picker.

The launcher also includes a clock and date plus convenient links to the inbox and composer.

Home selection and default SMS selection remain separate.

PRIVACY

Advertising is included. Technical information used for advertising, analytics and crash reporting is handled as explained in the Privacy Policy and Data safety section.

SMS and MMS are not end-to-end encrypted. Permissions and default roles can be changed using Android's settings.
