YouGov Screenlake

This application is for use by registered YouGov research participants to participate in research managed jointly by YouGov and Screenlake.

Purpose: The point of a brand survey is to understand your experience with brands. But, on the smartphone, you can encounter brands really often, in any app, at really quick speeds, and it’s tough to remember or even notice it all.
Screenlake’s role is to notice and register when a brand appears on your smartphone screen, automatically.

When you set this app up, it saves you the time of responding to surveys by auto-tallying your encounters with famous brands. You don’t have to change your behavior, answer questions, or do any work.

Screenlake (the company running this app) never knows or collects your name, email address, or other direct identifiers.

Opt-In Accessibility Service:
This app, Screenlake, uses the Accessibility Service permission to provide a specialized service that helps you automate manual survey entry tasks. Specifically, the app processes text displayed on your screen to detect and record brand-related encounters as you browse other applications. This data allows you to accelerate survey participation by automatically tabulating your interactions with brands, reducing the manual work typically required.

How We Use Accessibility Service
• This permission enables the app to read text displayed on your screen to identify brands you encounter.
• The app does NOT collect or store personally identifiable information (such as names, email addresses, or account details).
• Screenlake only uses this permission for the purpose of detecting on-screen brand mentions. It does not interact with or modify any other apps.

Your Privacy and Control
• You have full control over this permission and can enable or disable it at any time via your device settings or the app's built-in controls on the home screen.
• Screenlake ensures that your personal information remains secure and private at all times. No collected data is shared with third parties.

Data Usage:
The detected text data is processed on-device into indicators of sentiment toward brands and brand-relevant topics, and is solely used for market research analytics purposes. This data is used for anonymous and aggregate brand affinity evaluation in the same manner as brand-related survey answers are used: identifying trends, measuring interest, and making informed decisions around market research and product launches.
