FloorWasteCalc: Layout Waste

Work out how much flooring to buy for a single space or a whole home, with the right waste allowance for the way you lay it. Made for DIYers, installers and contractors.

• Enter length and width for up to 20 rooms, name each one and see a subtotal per room
• Deduct fixed objects such as a kitchen island or cabinets, so you only buy for the open floor
• Type a waste percentage or tap Straight 10%, Diagonal 15% or Herringbone 20%, typical rules of thumb you can adjust
• Compare straight, diagonal and herringbone side by side: boxes and cost for the same floor
• See how many boxes to buy from the coverage printed on the box, and how much is left over in the last one
• Estimate baseboard and transition strips by length, minus doorways, and get the number of pieces for your stick length
• Get an estimated cost from your price per square foot or square meter, with trim priced per piece
• Switch between feet and meters, and your typed values convert automatically
• Save each job as a scenario with notes and reload it later
