Usually premium is for extra or more advanced options whereas a free trial provides the most basic features. Tell me why I have to pay $90 a year for basic features like checkboxes and font editing, the same features I could access in apps like Apple Notes, Google Keep, or even Notesnook who is your direct competitor. This app could've been in my top spot if it didn't put basic features behind a trivial paywall.

2026-07-09	am*****	a great notes taking app, can do more than just taking notes, very useful privacy and security features like e2e encryption and note locking are fine additions as well as encrypted back ups, this is a great privacy respecting app and also can be self hosted as well ui very minimal and clean, it is sleek and I like it.

2026-07-05	Aa*****	This is my favorite note taking app. I have been using this app since February and I have to say I love how organized it looks and how amazing it looks. This app has the ability to keep my notes in order and I love that I can take as much notes as possible. Easily the greatest note taking app that I've ever used and I will continue to keep using it more often because it's absolutely amazing. This is my favorite.

2026-07-05	*****	I think the app is useless for many as long as you cannot search within a longer note. You can search for words but you get only the note itself as search result. Then you still don't know where in a longer note the searched word exactly is.

I want to be able to self-host, support syncing on multiple devices, E2EE on my data, & have a modern interface. SN has it all. the only thing I disagree with is the price. they have to make money I know, I don't mind paying. but for self-host, I don't think it should be a subscription. but this review is for the actual app, performance, & usability. on that it deserves 5 stars.
