Unredacted: American History

Explore US history through 100 lessons, quizzes and documented case files.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

American history makes more sense when you can follow the story from beginning to end and see the evidence behind it. Unredacted is a structured US history course with 100 chronological lessons, researched Case Files and study tools designed to help you understand how the country became what it is today.

Go beyond disconnected history facts or short clips. Follow the people, decisions and consequences across centuries, including difficult chapters that a quick overview may leave out. Read the history, examine its sources and form your own understanding.

A COMPLETE AMERICAN HISTORY COURSE

Work through 100 lessons across four years of material, arranged in the order of a two-semester university survey. Each lesson takes roughly 15 to 25 minutes, so you can make steady progress without having to organize an entire history curriculum yourself.

The story starts with Native North America before 1492 and follows colonization, independence and the Constitution; slavery, expansion and the Civil War; industry, empire and the world wars; and the United States as a global power.

The sequence helps connect one era to the next. Instead of memorizing isolated dates, you can see how earlier choices shaped later events.

HISTORY WITH THE RECORD ATTACHED

Explore 18 documented Case Files covering episodes such as Indian removal, the Tulsa massacre, covert operations and government surveillance. Each Case File identifies the records it draws upon, including congressional investigations, court documents, testimony and declassified material.

When historians disagree, the course presents the competing interpretations. When evidence challenges a familiar account, it explains the correction. This is history learning built around what the sources establish, not a demand to accept a slogan.

TOOLS TO HELP THE LESSONS STICK

• 60 historical figures, from presidents and generals to organizers and people whose testimony survives in the record.
• A searchable glossary of 741 terms linked to the lessons where they matter.
• 20 quizzes with explanations that help you review what you understood and what you missed.
• Spaced review for revisiting key terms over time.
• Bookmarks and personal notes to save passages, figures and ideas worth returning to.
• Search across lessons, historical figures and terms when a name or event catches your attention.

These tools make the course useful for both a continuous read and focused history study. Return to a topic before class, revisit the causes of an event or check a term without losing your place in the larger story.

LEARN WITHOUT CONSTANT CONNECTIONS

The course content is built for offline use. Lessons, historical profiles, glossary entries, quizzes and Case Files are bundled with the app, so you can keep learning on a commute, during travel or wherever the signal is unreliable. Store purchases and purchase restoration may require internet access.

There is no account to create just to begin reading. Progress, bookmarks and notes are kept on the device instead of requiring an online learning profile.

Optional Firebase Analytics is off by default. If allowed, it measures feature use, purchase activity, an installation identifier and device information, and may derive approximate location. Change your choice in Progress.

TRY THE COURSE BEFORE UNLOCKING IT

Start with the first 10 lessons and discover how Unredacted handles the early history of North America. A single in-app purchase unlocks the remaining 90 lessons and the full course, with no recurring subscription.

Unredacted is an independent self-study resource, not an accredited class or a substitute for college credit. It is for curious adults, history enthusiasts and students who want a chronological account with sources they can examine, whether they are exploring a topic for themselves or supplementing their American history studies.

Start reading the first lesson and follow the American story with the documents in view.
