Dragon Quest II Android app is praised as a faithful, nostalgic remake with good value and quality-of-life improvements suitable for longtime fans. However, many users criticize its very high encounter rate causing excessive grinding, confusing navigation leading to getting lost, and some interface quirks. I'm giving it a 5 star review due to it being a great remake that is true to the original. The touch screen interface works nicely considering the source material. There are some nice quality of life improvements such as 'hidden' items flickering so they are easier to find. The echo flute was probably the hardest item for me to find. The retranslation wasn't the best. I don't recall the original having such obtuse language. However, it was fun to revisit this game from my childhood!

I can't think of another game that leaps so much above it's direct predecessor without skipping a generation of console. I never played DQ2, I was always a Sega kid, so I just wanted a turn-based RPG. This was absolutely cracking. It was really nice not being waypointed everywhere and just having a pipe about. It's got a proper beginning-middle-end structure that games these days can't always manage to construct. Excellent value for money too. I paid £5 and got about 40 hours out of this.
