SQLite Editor Android

SQLite Editor

The ultimate SQLite editor for root users. The original and still the best.

Features & Capabilities

SQLite Editor is the ultimate tool for managing SQLite databases on your Android device, especially powerful for root users. It allows you to view, edit, and delete records in any SQLite database present on your phone. Root users benefit from a comprehensive list of all installed apps with internal databases, enabling direct editing of app data.

The extension integrates seamlessly with Root Explorer, replacing the default database viewer to enhance your experience. Non-root users can browse and modify databases stored on the SD card. With a user-friendly, scrollable grid interface and versatile filtering options, you can quickly navigate through records. The bookmarks and recent tabs help you access your frequently used databases efficiently.

User Reviews

Reviews show a mixed reception. The app is praised for being useful on rooted devices and for basic SQLite editing, and several users point out long-term usefulness. It also gets a nod for its built-in file-explorer features and for not generating Android metadata folders. However, many users report core drawbacks: it requires root to function (and root access can fail); it cannot browse SD cards or open databases from other apps; the UI is cramped and editing capabilities are limited; and there are stability bugs like crashes and null-array errors.
Pros
  • Useful for rooted devices to read/edit SQLite databases and generally works as intended.
  • Long-term usefulness; users have kept using it for years and still find it valuable.
  • Includes built-in/file-explorer features (internal file explorer and app explorer) for accessing databases.
  • Does not generate Android metadata folders, keeping storage cleaner.
Cons
  • Requires root; not usable on non-root devices and root access can fail.
  • Cannot browse SD cards or open databases from other apps; limited to app directories.
  • Poor UI/UX: tiny text, hard to refresh, single object view, and limited editing (no easy create/modify tables).
  • Stability issues and bugs: crashes (e.g., removing recent entries) and errors like 'length of null array'.

I wanted to use this to read and/or edit the SQLite (sqlite3) databases of some apps accessed through the app data directory from App Manager, but this app doesn't offer itself as a destination to open the databases in. Meanwhile, when trying to access the database from the app itself, I noticed that many of my apps are missing, despite having root access with KSU.

Displays all objects in the database as a single list; a better approach would be to have a selector at the top to show only tables, views, triggers etc. In a view, dark mode is more or less pointless, as the data is shown using a light theme. Additionally, the app always shows "new record" for views, regardless if they have an edit trigger defined or not. I like the UX direction, but it still needs more polish to be a generic, but full-featured, sqlite editor.
