Citizen App

The Citizen App is an official initiative by the Lesotho Government aimed at combating the spread of COVID-19 via effective contact tracing. Utilizing secure Exposure Notification technology, it instantly alerts users if they have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. This enables timely assistance from the Ministry of Health and the National Covid-19 Secretariat to provide relevant care and guidance.

Data privacy is paramount: all data is stored only on users' devices and shared exclusively with health authorities when a positive test is confirmed. Additionally, Bluetooth data is automatically deleted after 14 days. Beyond health monitoring, the Citizen App aims to support the country’s economic resilience by introducing online e-commerce services for citizens. This app is a crucial tool in flattening the COVID-19 infection curve and supporting public health efforts across Lesotho.
