Review summary

Seconds Pro is widely appreciated for its customization, voice prompts, and flexibility across workout types. However, multiple users report significant issues on the Android version, particularly with music selection and playback, missing features compared to iOS, and annoying pop-ups. The text-to-speech limitations and occasional crashes or UI annoyances like auto-rotation decrease usability. Overall, it remains a useful app but has several usability and feature gaps on Android that affect the experience.
Pros
  • Highly customizable and versatile for different types of workouts and interval timers.
  • Voice prompts are useful and help guide workouts effectively.
  • The app supports customization of colors, workout structures, and routines, providing good organization.
  • Works well for various activities including fitness, yoga, meditation, and even productivity timing.
  • Generally easy to use and praised for flexibility and built-in workout structures.
Cons
  • The app's music playback and selection features are problematic; users report issues selecting audio and lack of control over music folders or background music volume.
  • Android version lacks features and updates compared to the iOS version, including missing support for Galaxy watches and deprecated sound settings for new workouts.
  • Annoying frequent pop-ups such as rating prompts and exit confirmations that cannot be disabled.
  • Text-to-speech function only announces exercise names in pre-made workouts, not in custom ones, which is misleading to users.
  • The app tends to crash or not save/resume timers when navigating away, and screen auto-rotation during timers is considered annoying with no option to disable it.

I bought the pro version thinkin the rug was pulled from under me with the music selection option not working, but looks like the issue happens on the free and pro version: Whenever I try to tap the option to select audio, it will look like it's going to change screens, but quickly exits whatever screen it goes to and takes me right back to the edit options for the workout and never takes me to next screen to select the desired audio for the timer. Please help.

Was required to purchase and use this app for work purposes, has mostly worked fine for over a year. Extremely disappointed to learn that it has no support for Galaxy watches as I just bought one to use so I don't have to hold my phone to see the timer. Very obvious that Android version is lacking in features and updates compared to the Apple version.

love this app. it really is like a personal coach. only thing I would like more would be if I could program seconds app routine to prompt me to start it based on GPS and or other place based prompts like nft tag nearby or blue tooth activation or even a phone call start or end in general an sms from a person and or time of month day week or year. also would love to have Playlist options like random play list and straight play through play list vs simple play through one mp3 and also volume.

I used to use the Seconds app and over the last year it has not functioned the way it should. I tried upgrading to Seconds Pro and this one does not play any of my music from my phone. There is something wrong with this app and it does not appear like they are working to fix it. I would not recommend it to anyone anymore!

So nice I bought it twice. Originally purchased this under my old school email many years ago. That account was deleted, so I lost access. I missed it enough, I went ahead and purchased again on my main/personal email because I really enjoy the organization possibilities and different workout structures built into it. Great app.

This app used to be great; now it really only supports iOS. The frustrating thing about deprecating the sound settings that would speak the round titles is that it still works for old/imported workouts but you cannot set it up for new ones. Their workaround is to use Google Talkback, which reads everything on the screen not just round titles.

Generally easy to use and works well. The problem I have is with the tedious pop ups, like the 'rate this app!' pop up after every workout. It also has a pop up once you try to exit the timer you're on... Are you sure you wish to exit this timer? I can't find any way to turn this off. Finally it will open the first timer I made every time after launch, regardless of which timer I click on. I only use this for HIIT at the beginning of my strength training. I use the app for 15-20 minutes per workout with two timers. The annoyance factor for these issues varies depending on the day, but let's just say this is a timer that won't just get out of your way. It asks unnecessary questions, makes weird mistakes, and carries the unabashed needs of its makers.

Very useful. Wish it lowered my music playing in the background when it's talking. I does on my daughter's iPhone, but not on my Android. I bought a long instrumental song MP3 on Amazon, and it will play that itself and lower the volume during the messages. Or now that I remember all the exercises, I can play my own songs outside this app, and it's not that big a deal that the messages are a little hard to hear. I had to watch a video on you tube to figure out how to setup my exercises. Happy.

Fantastic app. Totally customizable or use the pre-made routines. Can be used for any exercise routine that needs a timer. Voice on reads your next exercise. Voice off you read yourself. Alarm on or off. Customize each exercise with a color of choice. I do HIIT and use a different color for each kind so from a distance I can see what type of exercise is coming next. Every exercise can be set individually with time, color, etc. Different routines for each day of week can be created as well.

Just an FYI to other users, even though there is no IMPORT option in the menu, clicking on a workout file or link in your phone will give you the option to open it in Seconds Pro, which will then import it automatically. To the Dev: would like to see a dark mode for the app when a workout isn't running. Maybe YouTube Music integration as well (or whatever our default is).
