Features & Capabilities

Overview

This is a companion app, not a standalone game. It must be started by a VR headset user and joined by at least one mobile player. Acron pits a protective tree in VR against crafty squirrels on mobile in a cross-platform couch co‑op experience from Resolution Games.

What to expect

Players split into two teams across devices: the VR host creates a room and mobile players join with a code, battling to defend or steal golden acorns using unique abilities. It's designed for group play, with fast-paced strategy, humor, and frantic cooperation.

User Reviews

Reviewers largely praise Acron as a fun, family-friendly party game that works well in VR, but reliability is a problem. Recurrent glitches and performance bugs reduce playability; older VR headsets (Quest 1) are no longer supported, and cross-device compatibility is poor. Players also want online/non-VR multiplayer and easier onboarding. The concept is engaging and perfect for family play, but improvements in stability, cross-platform support, and UI would help reach a wider audience.
Pros
  • Fun and family-friendly gameplay that's great for playing with friends and family.
  • Good VR support with a party-game vibe; enjoyable in VR.
  • Easy to set up and start playing.
  • Clever, unique squirrel-themed concept that stands out.
Cons
  • Persistent glitches and performance issues—lag, glitches with acorns, and unresponsive menus.
  • Dropped support for older VR headsets (like Quest 1) and cross-device compatibility problems.
  • No reliable online or non-VR multiplayer options; players want online matches and cross-platform play.
  • Onboarding/controls issues, including confusing room codes, an unresponsive main page, and left-handed control concerns.

good if you have someone on a headset (a slave would do if possible or even your sister)

Fun game. this is exactly what VR games should be. social and fun A few tweaks could make it even better: -camera reverse for squirrels so when you have the acorn you are looking toward the flag, not the tree. - button tutorial for squirrels? Took me awhile to figure out Taunt didn't do anything strategic. - ideas for other squirrels: camouflage as a bush. Another mirage that could appear to split into 5 squirrels for 2 seconds to confuse tree to not show which to target
