The Polestar Android app offers strong remote controls and practical features with a clean UI, plus useful notifications. However, it is hampered by repeated reliability problems centered on server connectivity, digital key reliability on Android, pairing resets, inaccurate location data, and cross-app syncing, resulting in an inconsistent overall experience.

Pros

Remote car controls (lock/unlock, climate, charging, preconditioning, horn, and window operations) via the app.
Preconditioning works reliably, especially on cold mornings.
Simple, clean UI that remains approachable as features improve.
Helpful status notifications (e.g., alert when the car is left unlocked).
Ongoing updates add features and improvements.

Cons

Persistent server/cloud connectivity issues that prevent use or cause features to fail.
Android digital key (UWB) remains unreliable or unavailable on many devices, causing keyless issues.
Frequent pairing problems and occasional 'reset everything' scenarios requiring re-pairing.
Location and mileage data can be inaccurate and the widget often fails to refresh.
Cross-app syncing issues between Polestar apps (car and energy) and charging data.

Recent reviews

The sport key's battery is dead. I managed to start the car using the app to get to my meeting point. After the meeting, I can't start the car. The sport key and its battery can't be replaced. I'm stuck, the car won't move. They told me to get out and wait an hour outside the car in the pouring rain. The app works 1 out of 5 times. I have better odds at the casino.

The app I'm works fine. I wish the PAK would work better on my Pixel 7 though. Edit: same problem with the PAK with a pixel 9 pro. Edit again: works now fine on a Pixel 10 Pro.
